Cookie Policy
Last updated: November 2024
This policy explains what cookies and browser storage LoopTube uses, which third parties may set cookies, and how you can control them.
What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files stored in your browser by websites you visit. They serve various purposes — keeping you logged in, remembering preferences, or tracking usage for analytics. "Local storage" is a similar mechanism that lets websites store larger amounts of data in your browser without expiry.
What LoopTube stores
LoopTube uses your browser's LocalStorage (not cookies) to persist your data between sessions. No expiry date, no server transmission.
| Key | What it stores | When cleared |
|---|---|---|
looptube_loops | Your saved loops (start/end times, video IDs, labels) | When you delete loops or clear browser data |
looptube_preferences | Export format (MP3/WAV), default tempo, theme | When you clear browser data |
This data never leaves your device. LoopTube does not have access to it.
First-party cookies
LoopTube itself does not set any first-party cookies for tracking or advertising. A session cookie may be set by the web server for technical reasons (e.g. load balancing) but contains no personally identifiable information.
Third-party cookies — YouTube
When you use YouTube mode, the YouTube IFrame API embeds a YouTube player on the page. Google (YouTube's parent) may set cookies as part of this integration, including cookies used for:
- Video playback state and preferences
- User authentication (if you are signed in to Google)
- Analytics on YouTube video performance
- Personalised advertising (if you have not opted out)
These cookies are subject to Google's Privacy Policy and Google's Cookie Policy. LoopTube has no control over or access to these cookies.
If you prefer YouTube not to set advertising cookies, you can use YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode or opt out via Google Ads Settings.
Analytics
We may use privacy-respecting, cookieless analytics tools to understand aggregate usage (e.g. most-used features, error rates). Where such tools are used, they are configured to avoid collecting personally identifiable information and to respect Do Not Track signals.
How to control cookies
You can manage or delete cookies through your browser settings. Instructions for common browsers:
Note: disabling cookies may affect YouTube playback functionality within LoopTube. Your saved loops and preferences (stored in LocalStorage) can be cleared separately via your browser's developer tools or site data settings.
Changes to this policy
We will update the "Last updated" date when this policy changes. Material changes will be communicated via the app.
